Game Overview: The Leadership Olympics is a fun, fast-paced, and interactive game designed to develop and showcase leadership skills. This activity emphasizes strategic visioning and teamwork, allowing participants to exercise their creativity and collaboration while learning valuable lessons about leadership.

Objective

To develop and communicate a compelling vision for a fictional company within a limited timeframe.

How to Play:

Designate 1-3 judge/s

  • Judges will score all final presentations of the Visionary Relay using the criteria provided

Team Formation:

  • Teams: Form teams of 3-5 members.

  • Roles: Assign each team member a role: leader, note-taker, and presenter (timekeeping is shared among all members).

Rapid Brainstorming Session (5 Minutes):

  • Note-Taker: Responsible for documenting the brainstorming session.

  • Order: Leader decides the speaking order for team members.

  • Timing: Each member has 1 minute to contribute to the vision.

  • Process:

    • The leader introduces the fictional company and its industry and selects the order in which the remaining members contribute.

    • Subsequent members add details, elaborate, or refine the vision, ensuring coherence and consistency.

Steps:

  • Minute 1 (Leader): Introduce the fictional company and its industry.

  • Minute 2 (Member 2): Define the company's mission and vision.

  • Minute 3 (Member 3): Establish core values and principles.

  • Minutes 4-5 (All Members): Collaboratively design a mission statement incorporating all contributions.

Presentation (2 Minutes):

  • Presenter of each team presents their final vision to a panel of judges within 2min or less. 

Scoring Criteria:

Using a scale of 1-5 the judge/s will award points as follows:

  • Clarity: Is the vision clear and understandable?

    • 1: Vision is confusing and difficult to understand.

    • 2: Vision has some clear elements, but overall is unclear or contains jargon.

    • 3: Vision is mostly clear, but may have minor areas of confusion.

    • 4: Vision is clear and understandable, with minimal jargon or confusing elements.

    • 5: Vision is exceptionally clear and easy to understand, free of jargon and ambiguity.

  • Creativity: Is the vision innovative and original?

    • 1: Vision lacks originality and is very generic.

    • 2: Vision shows limited creativity, with some original elements.

    • 3: Vision is somewhat creative, with a few innovative ideas.

    • 4: Vision is creative and innovative, standing out from typical ideas.

    • 5: Vision is exceptionally creative and original, highly innovative and unique.

  • Compelling: Is the vision persuasive and engaging? Does it inspire and capture the audience's interest?

    • 1: Vision is unconvincing and fails to engage the audience.

    • 2: Vision is somewhat engaging, but lacks strong persuasive elements.

    • 3: Vision is moderately compelling, with some persuasive elements.

    • 4: Vision is engaging and persuasive, capturing the audience's interest.

    • 5: Vision is highly compelling and persuasive, inspiring and captivating the audience.

Additional Tips:

  • Effective Communication: Clearly state your ideas and ensure they build on previous contributions. Avoid jargon and complicated language to keep the vision accessible and understandable.

  • Active Listening: Pay attention to each team member’s input. This ensures that subsequent contributions are relevant and build upon the previous ones.

  • Time Management: Keep track of time using a timer. Each member should practice delivering their ideas concisely within the 1-minute limit.

  • Focus on the Big Picture: Avoid getting bogged down in minor details. Focus on the core elements of the vision, mission, and values.

  • Encourage Creativity: Think outside the box and encourage bold, innovative ideas. A unique vision is more likely to stand out and be compelling.

  • Stay Positive and Supportive: Foster a positive environment where all team members feel comfortable sharing their ideas. Constructive feedback is key to refining the vision.
